Decisive Hours for Trump as B-52 Bombers Deployed Near Iran
By Novaflash.info – June 17, 2025
In a moment described by U.S. officials as “critical,” former President Donald Trump—now the Republican nominee for the 2024 elections—has gathered his national security council at the White House to discuss possible U.S. involvement in the escalating war between Israel and Iran.
The sudden meeting follows a dramatic post by Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social, in which he threatened Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei directly.
“We know exactly where the ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He’s an easy target—but safe for now. We won’t eliminate him, at least not yet. But we won’t tolerate missiles aimed at American troops or civilians. Our patience is wearing thin,” Trump wrote.
While no decision for a military strike has been confirmed, satellite images analyzed by Planet Labs reveal that four B-52 Stratofortress bombers have been deployed to Diego Garcia, a strategic U.S. airbase in the Indian Ocean. These long-range bombers—capable of delivering either conventional precision bombs or nuclear payloads—arrived in mid-May, according to defense analysts.
In addition to the B-52s, the airbase now hosts a C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft and at least six KC-135 Stratotankers, suggesting full logistical support for extended-range operations, including mid-air refueling.
Trump abruptly left the G7 summit in Canada over the weekend and returned to Washington, fueling speculation that the U.S. may soon take a more active role in the conflict. So far, Washington has limited its involvement to logistical and intelligence support for Israel as it faces five consecutive days of Iranian missile and drone attacks.
The regional situation has reached a boiling point. Defense analysts note that while Trump is not yet in office, his influence over the Republican-majority Congress and the Pentagon’s current strategy remains considerable. Any decision he backs could shift the balance in a potential U.S.–Iran military engagement.

The presence of B-52 bombers in Diego Garcia is a clear message: the United States wants to keep its options open. Whether this is deterrence or a prelude to military action, it signals a renewed U.S. willingness to project force in the Middle East. Trump’s direct warning to Khamenei—calling him an “easy target”—is unprecedented, even in the most hawkish phases of past administrations.
If Iran continues attacks on U.S. interests or allies, Washington’s pressure to act militarily may grow. The stakes are enormous—not only for regional stability but for Trump’s political future as well.
