Iranian state media have issued new statements about this morning’s rocket attack in the Israeli city of Beersheba. According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, the intended target was not Soroka Medical Center, but a nearby sensitive military installation.
The report specifies that the primary objective was the “IDF C4i command and intelligence headquarters”, as well as an intelligence camp located inside the Gav-Yam Negev Technology Park. This area lies adjacent to Ben Gurion University’s campus and the technological division of the Israeli Defense Forces, highlighting the proximity of civilian and military infrastructure.
The IRNA report emphasizes that the hospital was not directly hit, but was exposed to the shockwave from the nearby blast. There were no reports of significant damage to the hospital, and Iranian officials insist that it was not a target.
Israeli authorities have yet to officially respond to these claims. The strike occurs at a time of heightened tension, where strategic and technological sites are increasingly being drawn into the crosshairs.

This strike suggests a strategic shift by Iran to focus on high-value military technology targets while attempting to minimize civilian impact. However, the close proximity of military sites to civilian infrastructure like hospitals still presents a serious risk of collateral damage and could further escalate regional conflict.
