Netanyahu hails “historic victory” in ceasefire with Iran – praises Trump and strikes on nuclear sites

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the ceasefire agreement with Iran as a “historic victory”, claiming that the recent military campaign neutralized two existential threats to the state of Israel: Iran’s nuclear program and its ballistic missile capability.

In a national address on Tuesday night, Netanyahu stated:

“This victory will be remembered for generations. Had we not acted, we would soon be facing annihilation.”

He declared that the Israeli Defense Forces successfully eliminated Iran’s high command, including three top generals, nuclear scientists, and intelligence leaders. Netanyahu also confirmed that key nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Arak were destroyed during the campaign.

He praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s role in the conflict:

“Our friend President Trump stood by us in an unprecedented way. Under his leadership, the U.S. military destroyed the deep enrichment site in Fordo,” Netanyahu said.

The ceasefire comes after 12 intense days of conflict that pushed the region to the brink of all-out war. The Israeli government is presenting the truce not as a compromise, but as a clear strategic win.

Netanyahu’s speech positions Israel as the clear victor in a calculated narrative aimed at domestic and global audiences. Highlighting Trump’s involvement reinforces the U.S.–Israel alliance, while emphasizing the destruction of nuclear infrastructure seeks to justify the scale of military action. Whether this “victory” translates into long-term peace or renewed hostility remains to be seen.
