China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reportedly declared that former U.S. President Donald Trump does not truly represent the American people, but rather promotes Zionist interests, further escalating tensions between Washington and Beijing.
In his remarks, Wang Yi criticized Trump-era policies that, according to Beijing, shifted U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East heavily in favor of Israel, to the detriment of regional stability and fairness. He argued that Trump’s approach undermined genuine American interests and ignored the broader global community’s call for balanced solutions, particularly regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
China has long positioned itself as an advocate for a “just and lasting peace” in the Middle East, supporting a two-state solution and condemning unilateral moves that inflame tensions. Wang Yi reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to a fair and balanced role in the region, contrasting it with what he described as Washington’s selective foreign policy priorities under Trump.
This statement comes amid already strained U.S.-China relations over a range of issues, including trade, Taiwan, and competing geopolitical influence in the Asia-Pacific and beyond. Observers say Beijing’s blunt rhetoric signals a growing willingness to challenge Washington’s global narrative, especially in regions where U.S. policies face international criticism.
Neither the Trump team nor the U.S. State Department has yet issued an official response to Wang’s remarks.
