On August 26, special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), based in Bogotá, Colombia, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, successfully seized 1,015 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Cartagena.
The operation was conducted in partnership with international law enforcement agencies under the Transnational Criminal Investigative Unit (TCIU) program, a global initiative aimed at dismantling international drug trafficking networks and strengthening border security.
Authorities reported that the cocaine was hidden inside containers destined for international markets. If successfully distributed, the narcotics would have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in illicit revenue for organized crime groups.
“This seizure is a testament to the strength of international cooperation in fighting transnational crime,” an ICE spokesperson said. “By working closely with foreign partners, we can dismantle networks that pose a serious threat to global security.”
The case is under further investigation, and no details have been released about possible arrests connected to the shipment.
