A disturbing and highly unusual case has emerged in Kosovo, capturing public attention and raising serious concerns about the influence of social media on young people. A teenager from Ferizaj is accused of physically assaulting his own father while broadcasting the act LIVE on TikTok.
What makes this case even more alarming is what happened afterward: the suspect was placed under psychiatric supervision, escaped from the facility, and was later arrested again by authorities.
🚨 How did it start?
The case was first reported on April 3, when the Cyber Crime Investigation Directorate received information about a disturbing LIVE video circulating online.
Upon investigation, authorities discovered that a minor was physically attacking another individual during the broadcast. It was later confirmed that the victim was his own father.
According to reports, the suspect is a 16-year-old identified by the initials P.Gj. He allegedly wore a mask and repeatedly struck his father—around 58 years old—with punches and kicks, while recording and streaming the entire incident in real time.
📱 Violence for profit on social media
Perhaps the most shocking element of this case is the motive behind the act.
During questioning, conducted in the presence of a lawyer and social services representatives, the teenager admitted that:
- He assaulted his father
- He recorded and streamed the act LIVE
- His goal was financial gain through social media
This revelation highlights a growing and dangerous trend: individuals creating extreme and shocking content on platforms like TikTok in pursuit of views, attention, and monetary rewards.
🏥 Condition of the victim
The father sustained physical injuries as a result of the assault and received medical treatment. A medical report documenting his injuries has also been issued.
However, experts emphasize that beyond the physical harm, the psychological and emotional impact in such cases can be far more severe and long-lasting.
⚖️ Authorities respond
Following identification of the suspect, authorities took immediate action:
- The minor was interviewed
- The case was classified as “minor bodily injury”
- By order of the juvenile prosecutor, he was detained for 24 hours
After this initial detention, he was released under regular legal procedures.
But the story did not end there.
🧠 Escape from psychiatric facility
After the initial proceedings, the teenager was placed under supervision in a psychiatric institution in Prishtina.
On April 10, however, he managed to escape from the facility and returned home, raising serious concerns about security and monitoring within such institutions.
🚓 Re-arrest
Once authorities received information about his escape, police units responded immediately.
The suspect was located and arrested again.
By decision of the juvenile prosecutor:
- He was placed in 24-hour detention once more
- Investigations are ongoing
Additionally, authorities have requested the seizure of electronic devices believed to have been used in committing the offense.
⚠️ A growing concern?
This case has sparked widespread debate about the influence of social media on youth behavior.
Experts warn that:
- Extreme content is increasingly rewarded with attention and money
- Young people may feel pressured to cross boundaries for views
- Moral limits are becoming blurred in the digital age
Platforms like TikTok offer rapid visibility—but sometimes at a dangerous cost.
