A 34-year-old man has been shot and killed near Amsterdam’s Vondelpark, in an incident that has shocked the local community.
The shooting took place outside the Sao Paulo bar on Amstelveenseweg. Emergency services attempted to resuscitate the victim, but sadly, he could not be saved.
Police later arrested a 32-year-old man at his home in connection with the shooting. He remains in custody under strict restrictions while investigators work to establish exactly what happened.
According to police, the shooting appears to have been targeted, meaning the attacker was allegedly looking for the victim rather than the incident being random.
Dutch media have reported that the suspect and victim may have had a long-running dispute, with a possible financial motive being investigated. However, authorities have not yet confirmed a definitive motive.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses.
