U.S. Raises Alarm: Iran Amasses 2,000 Ballistic Missiles, Warns of Devastating Response if Israel Strikes

Tensions in the Middle East are reaching a boiling point as fresh intelligence from the United States reveals that Iran now possesses approximately 2,000 ballistic missiles—many of which are capable of carrying warheads exceeding 900 kilograms and have the range to strike deep inside Israeli territory.

In a high-level briefing last week, White House envoy Steve Witkoff warned leading Republican senators that any Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities could trigger a catastrophic counterattack, potentially overwhelming Israel’s missile defense systems and causing extensive destruction.

New Missile Revealed, Production Accelerates

On Wednesday, June 11, Iran’s Defense Minister unveiled a new ballistic missile with a payload capacity of 1,800 kg, signaling a significant leap in Iran’s offensive capabilities. According to U.S. intelligence, Iran has accelerated missile production since the October 2024 missile exchange with Israel, now producing around 50 missiles per month—a pace aimed at outnumbering Israel’s interceptors.

One senior American official said:

“Iran is not just preparing for deterrence. They’re building an arsenal designed to overpower Israel’s defenses in the event of war.”

U.S. Assets in the Crosshairs

The implications stretch far beyond Israel. Iran has explicitly warned that it would not only retaliate against Israeli targets, but also strike U.S. assets across the Middle East, should conflict erupt. In response, Washington has begun evacuating diplomats and military families from sensitive locations, including its embassy in Baghdad. Heightened security protocols have also been put in place for U.S. personnel in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, General Erik Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, is expected to arrive in Israel this Saturday for emergency consultations. In his testimony to Congress this week, Kurilla cautioned that any military operation against Iran could expose American troops to direct attacks from Iranian forces or their regional proxies.

Iran’s Blunt Message: “We Will Not Stop”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated that Tehran will not halt uranium enrichment, despite mounting international pressure.

“If they destroy our nuclear facilities with bombs, we will rebuild them—and we will respond in kind,” he declared.

IRGC Commander Hossein Salami added fuel to the fire, stating that Iran has already mapped out critical enemy targets and is ready to launch a “more painful and devastating” response than any previous missile attacks.

Diplomatic Deadline Approaching

Witkoff hinted that diplomacy is on life support, and that military options remain on the table if no agreement is reached with Iran in the coming days.

With both sides digging in their heels, and a growing arsenal of powerful missiles in play, the world watches anxiously. A misstep or a preemptive strike could spark a regional war—or worse.
