Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t hold back a smile when asked about the emotional value of his latest triumph. While the football world celebrates the historic victory, for CR7, this one hits closer to home — literally.
“My kids are Spanish and they love teasing me by chanting ‘Spain, Spain!’ at home. They always say Spain are the European champions. Now that I’ve beaten them, I think they’ll have a bit more respect for their dad. They’ll be prouder of me,” Ronaldo said with a laugh.
The Portuguese legend also showed his sportsmanship when talking about Spain’s rising star:
“What can I say about Yamal? He’s a phenomenon. He has a long career ahead and will win many trophies. He’s only 17, so please… let him grow. Let him breathe.”
It was a touching moment of both pride and humility from one of football’s greatest — proving once again why Ronaldo continues to inspire on and off the pitch
