The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Said: “The Lifespan of My Ummah Is Between Sixty and Seventy Years”

According to Islamic teachings, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The lifespan of my Ummah (people) is between sixty and seventy years, and very few of them exceed this.”

(Narrated by Tirmidhi, No. 2331; Ibn Majah, No. 4236; authenticated by Sheikh Albani)

He also said:

“Allah does not leave any excuse for a person whom He has granted life until the age of sixty.”

(Bukhari)

In Islam, reaching the age of 60 to 70 years is considered a blessing from Allah, as it marks a stage where a person has gained enough wisdom and life experience to realize the temporary nature of this world.

It is a time to turn sincerely toward Allah, seek forgiveness, and prepare for the eternal life of the Hereafter.

The Prophet’s ﷺ reminder serves as a gentle call for reflection and repentance — a message that when one reaches the age of sixty, the time to act righteously and make peace with Allah is now.

Every breath after this age is a gift and opportunity for spiritual awakening.
