Ahmedabad, India – June 12, 2025
A 40-year-old British-Indian man, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, has been identified as one of the few survivors of a devastating plane crash involving an Air India flight shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The crash has claimed the lives of over 200 people, with rescue efforts still ongoing.
Ramesh, who sustained injuries to his chest, head, and legs, described the terrifying moments before and after the crash.

“There was a loud noise about 30 seconds after the plane took off, and then it just went down. Everything happened so fast,” he told reporters from his hospital bed.
The flight, bound for the United Kingdom, was carrying 242 people including passengers and crew. Among them were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. Authorities believe the number of fatalities may rise as the plane crashed into a densely populated area near the airport.
Ramesh, a London resident for the past 20 years, was returning home after visiting family in India. His older brother, 45-year-old Ajay Kumar Ramesh, was also on the flight but seated in a different row. His current status remains unknown.
“When I opened my eyes, there were bodies around me. I was terrified. I got up and ran. There was wreckage everywhere. Someone pulled me into an ambulance, and I was taken to the hospital,” Ramesh recalled.
He is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, while search and recovery teams continue their work at the crash site.
“I can’t find my brother anywhere,” he added with a shaky voice. “Please help me find him.”
Officials are working to identify victims and account for survivors. Investigators are also examining the aircraft’s black box and flight data to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
